About the Event
The town of Isabela Puerto Rico is recognized as the capital of the Paso Fino (naturally gaited light horse breed). Paso Fino (“fine step”) is a unique four-beat lateral gait born into these traditional horses. The gait is inherited. Regular horses cannot be trained to perform it and not every horse in the breed can do it correctly.
The horses were imported to Caribbean from Spain by Christopher Columbus. The horse was developed by breeding with Spanish Jennet, Andalusian, and Barb horses.
The tour consists of visiting a Paso Fino Ranch dedicated to breeding, training, and selling the finest quality Paso Fino Horses in the area. Training Breaking, Gaited, Ground, Lesson, Show, Trail Riding are to be covered and deeply explained.
After the demonstration the tour continues with a typical gastronomic experience. Lunch Gastronomic experience – Experience will consist of typical food: rice with pigeon peas, roasted pork and pasteles. For dessert a “tembleque” made from delicious coconut. (food and 1 drink cost are included with the tour package).
