Puerto Rican Bomba Dance with a gastronomic experience.

While your dinner and enjoy Villa Sophia Ocean view in an open-air environment, a

colorful spectacular of Puerto Rican Bomba rhythm that involves music, song, dance,

and history will be delivered.

Bomba is a Puerto Rican traditional dance and musical style. Its origins are rooted in the island's

history of African slavery but today has evolved into a community expression of Puerto Rican culture.

While Bomba can be used as the generic name for several rhythms, it is about a creative, interactive

relationship between dancers, percussionists, and singers.

Bomba singer Leró Martínez Roldán is the artist for this experience and arguably one of the most

talented and multifaceted young bomba and plena musicians to come out of Puerto Rico in the last

decade. The percussionist, singer and bandleader are no mere preserver of tradition. rather, Martínez

Roldán advances folkloric plena and bomba through original songwriting and inventive arrangements.

During this experience dancer(s) and singer(s) will perform with the unique instruments

and dressing accordingly in a LIVE CONCERT.

After finishing your Bomba dance and gastronomic experience, you have the opportunity

to learn, dance, practice and play with the Bomba instruments and its rhythm. Also, you

can talk to the musician, get his recordings and autographs.

Gastronomic experience will consist of typical food: rice with pigeon peas, roasted pork

and pasteles. For dessert a “tembleque” made from delicious coconut.
